Papeete, Tahiti: Please — I beg you — can someone explain this photo?

October 16, 2019 Jim 5 Comments

We were at the Faa’a airport in Papeete waiting to board a flight to the Cook Islands. I used the restroom and I felt absolutely compelled to take a photo — two photos, actually — of the urinal after I finished using it.

You may think that’s sounds sick. Perverted. Crazier than hell. But stick with me for a few moments.

I walked back out into the boarding area, sat down next to Jamie, and told her that I wanted her to look at two photos I had just taken.

She looked at the first one and her expression said it all. “My husband is a lunatic who takes photos of urinals and then shows them to me.”

Here is that first photo. Seems like an ordinary urinal, right? Nothing unusual, right? You’re probably beginning to agree with Jamie that there is something deeply wrong with me for taking this photo and then showing it to you. Well, do yourself a favor. After you have finished viewing the first photo below, scroll down and take a gander at the close-up second photo.

Now, as promised, here’s a close-up of the sign posted on the wall so that I could not help but stare at as I used the urinal.

Jamie had the same reaction I had. Undoubtedly the same reaction you just had. The same reaction any rational person would have.

What the hell does that sign mean?

As far as I can figure, there are only two possible answers: (1) The French are crazier than I ever imagined, or (2) I just peed in the sink.
