We have friends in McKinney whose last name is McCracken. They actually hold the distinction of being the first people we met in McKinney and they have become not just friends, but very good friends.
Jamie and I were in a Barossa Valley restaurant a few years ago when a man walked past us wearing a stylish golf shirt embroidered with the words McCracken Country Club. I immediately asked him where he got the shirt. He looked at me like I was stupid and said, “The McCracken Country Club.” He explained that it was several hours south of the Barossa, so Jamie and I scheduled a road trip to pick up some McCracken swag for Doug and Kelly.
Now it’s become a tradition. Each time we visit South Australia, we pick up a new supply for our friends.
Get ready, McCrackens. We’re coming home with a suitcase crammed full of brand spankin’ new McCracken caps and McCracken T-shirts and McCracken golf shirts and McCracken golf balls and McCracken golf towels and McCracken coffee mugs.
You will once again be the envy of McCrackens everywhere.
Special Bonus: Happy birthday, Dougie.
