I never really liked living in the big city but had to because I was always partial to eating, and small town advertising copywriters have a disturbing tendency to starve to death. After working for a couple years at a really good small agency in Los Angeles, and then for a few more months at the biggest agency in town, I gradually came to realize that I was just not cut out for life in the big city.
