In reply to Jim. This reminds me of the Esperance shows in the late 70's/80's. Tiny and I were wandering around the pavilion looking at the cooking entries. Quote Tiny " look those bloody date scones that have won first prize! I'd do better." Quote Wendy " money where your mouth is". One year on and we were both at it at 6 a.m on show day. Results. Tiny nil. Wendy 1st prize for pikelets. So the success spurred me on and the following year I entered roses from our garden. Wendy Langer. Champion rose of the show.!! Dad was pissed off because he grew them!

Kudos Jamie!! That’s great that you entered two cakes and I’m sure they were both delicious! Those are two of my favorites and YOU are inspiring me to bake! Now which one? I’ll ask Susannah since I’ll be sharing it with her and John. Wish I had you recipes. Maybe you should publish a cookbook!

I think Jamie perfected her cakes - although I didn’t get to try the carrot cake!! The banana cake was delish
