Do a Google image search for “Bolivian Indian woman” and you’ll come up with hundreds of photos that could be this woman. Same stature. Same hat. Same clothing style and color.
Her people are called atacameños and they roam freely across the borders that supposedly separate Northern Chile and Argentina and Southern Bolivia. Chile has tried to exile them, but they continue to cross the porous borders with impunity.
There are times I look at Jamie and say, “Gotta get this photo.” She usually cringes. This was one of those times.
