Here’s another inexpensive Aussie television commercial we love. It’s just so damn goofy and funny. Whenever it comes on the air we stop whatever we’re doing just to watch. Every time we drive past an OTR gas station, Jamie sings, “Go a Moe’s. Go, go a Moe’s.”
In case you’re wondering, OTR is a combo gas station/convenience store similar to RaceTrac in Texas or AM/PM in California.
I usually hate anthropomorphized characters in commercials, but this one is done completely tongue in cheek which makes it work for me. Every time it comes on the air, Jamie sings the high-pitched lines and I sing the “Makes me feel like a limosine” line. HappyWash is a drive-through car wash that sits adjacent to many OTR gas station/convenience stores.
I took our car through a HappyWash last week and the car in front of me had a set of dual exhaust pipes like the car in the commercial. I swear I saw them move like lips and sing, “Happy wash me, baby” as the car began moving through the wash.
Both commercials are done by Showpony, the best ad agency in Adelaide (and one of the best in the country, too).

No! They put ketchup on the Moe’s! Edit it!

Could have been worse, Rick. Could have been Vegemite.

Totally catchy. For some reason I thought of Meow Mix from the 70s. https://youtu.be/LTunhRVyREU

Living in the “West” we wouldn’t get it. But apart from that, we don’t actually watch commercial TV. Can’t tolerate the ad breaks! But one we look forward to each OZ day is the Lamb Board. ad. Always funny.
